Merit Badge!

Leif has just about completed his very first Boy Scout merit badge: Family Life. We have designated Friday afternoons for merit badge work. This merit badge requires Leif to do two projects at home. The first project is suppose to be done by all of the family members. For that project, we all worked together to tidy up the wood pile and stack the wood neatly, which turned out to be a larger project than we had expected! The other project is suppose to be done by just Leif and benefit the whole family. For that project, Leif created a parent-child "date" schedule for the year. Each child who is 8 years old and older will get to do a one-on-one activity with Mom and Dad. The activity will be chosen by the child and can last one to two hours. Some ideas Leif (and I) came up with were: play with Legos (or other games or toys), go on a bike ride/run/hike/walk, go see a movie, go out for a treat or meal, miniature golfing, arcade-ing, batting cages, go to the farmers' market, go to a park, archery, balloon-dart painting, and find things to look at under the microscope.
