When my children are missing something, I usually tell them to remember to check in the "lost and found" at school or church. When I am missing something, Anders tells me it's probably in the "lostin fountain." :) I found the exercise DVD I misplaced. It was in my sock drawer (where I had checked about 5 times before). The drawer is shallow and the DVD case was caught behind the front of the chest of drawers when I pulled the drawer open. I knew I hid it in a logical place. :)
We have inherited very many jars of barely expired baby food. I have been using the baby food to add veggies to our meals, you know, like soups, spaghetti sauce, and maybe even muffins or something. I'm excited about experimenting with it and then there are the jars! People are always looking for empty baby food jars for cub scout crafts or something, right? Here are some ideas I've found online:

Conversations with Anders
Anders- Mom, what happens at the end of days and nights?
Me- Well, then there's another day and night. And then another and another and another.
Anders- No, I mean after ALL the days and nights. The END! What happens at the END?
Me- What do you think happens at the end of all the days and nights?
Anders- We die?
.
.
.
Anders- Mom, what are clouds made of?
Me- Water vapor.
Anders- And how did it get up to the sky?
.
.
.
Anders- "Let's have some ice cream!"
Mom- "Sorry, Anders, we don't have any ice cream. It was all eaten up. Oh, rats!"
The look on his face was as if he thought I meant rats had eaten up the ice cream, then he smiled and said, "No, it was little mouses!"

Vegetables Again
Tonight while we were having dinner, Anders was choosing not to eat his vegetables. Whenever my little ones say that they don't want to eat their veggies, I tell them that there's a party going on inside their stomach and all those little vegetables are invited. "They don't want to miss out on the party, so you better get them in there!" Usually that little visualization gets the veggies to where they ought to go and tonight was no exception. However, Anders asked a question that my other children hadn't inquired about before. "When do the vegetables get picked up?"
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"You know (pointing to his belly), when do the vegetables get picked up from the party?"
"Well...They don't get picked up...They ride the bus home." Ha! I'm so clever, I thought to myself.
But then Leif made it even better by adding, "They ride the bus to the swimming pool!" Good times! Good times! :)

Silly Sentences by Anders, age 3
As Anders was flipping through one of my cookbooks looking for an apple pie recipe, he declared, "Mom! When I grow up, I am going to be able to drive a car, work, and cook. 'Cause I love to cook!"
Anders says that only Dad can use the baking soda because it has a picture of a strong arm and Dad is the only one that can lift up the heavy weight (the barbel in our living room that Jeff uses). Anders also says that Dad is so strong, he can lift up a car. Wow! That's strong! :) I hope Anders isn't disappointed when he gets older and discovers that Jeff is just an average-sized man with average strength!
If you ask Anders where bees live, he'll tell you "in a behind!"
I was examining my silver strands of hair real close to the mirror in my bathroom. Anders walked in and said, "Mom, your hair is like...is like...(thinking expression)" I thought he was going to mention something about my silver strands, then he continued, "Your hair is like brownies. So, should you make brownies?" That's a good Anders! :)
Sabrina lost her first tooth this week. Perhaps Anders got to thinking that would be pretty cool for him, too, because he came to me and said, "Mom, my teeth hurt when I eat carrots, so will you take out one of my teeth?"
Me: "Anders, do you know that I love you?"
Anders: "Yes, Mom, you love me because I help you wash the dishes."
Anders brought me the etch-a-sketch with scribbles all over it and said, "Mom, this is how far I want to ride my bike."
I was lying down on my bed trying to rest a bit before the older kids got home from school and Anders came in my room, stood next to me and said, "Mom, my favorite song is 'Rudolf, the Red-nosed Reindeer. And that is my favorite reindeer. And I like rabbits for a pet. And I like horses. I love macaroni and cheese. And I love it when you tickle me and I love you showing me pictures on the computer of rotten teeth before we go to bed and that is all." And then he walked out.
I offered Anders a bite of a brownie and before he took it, he asked, "Mom, is this a dream?" I gave him the piece and said, "Yes, Anders, you're dreaming. See if you can wake up." He finished the piece and then stated, "Actually, I'm not dreaming! I already am awake!" He's so silly! :)

Jeff reading Anders "The Cat in the Hat."
Once upon a time, which happened to be today, Anders said he wanted to make a chocolate cake and asked if he could use a spoonful of flour. I told him I usually use a cake mix when I make a chocolate cake. "And do you use a brownie mix when you make brownies?" he inquired. Of course, I do. Since I didn't offer him a cake mix, and he didn't ask for one, I told him he could use a spoonful of flour and then I sat and observed. He got out a small cereal bowl and a spoon. Carefully, he scooped out one spoonful of flour and placed it in the bowl. Then he slid a chair over to the counter and removed the salt, pepper, and cinnamon/sugar from the cupboard. He added those ingredients to the bowl, mostly salt. It comes out fast, you know. It's hard to tell when enough is enough. Then he added a little bit of water and stirred. He was so proud of his work and I encouraged him to taste it. He barely touched his tongue to the spoon, smiled, and said it was very good. "It's salty ice-cream water," he informed me. Good to know. I had to step out of the room for a minute and when I came back, I noted that he had helped himself to the baking soda and cocoa powder. Looked like he just poured, no scooping involved this time. I put those ingredients away and then told him not to get anything else out of the cupboard. He added more water, so much more that he couldn't stir the mixture without spilling out the cocoa powder that was floating on top. "I'll just let it get wet by itself," he stated as he excused himself from the kitchen and became occupied elsewhere. A minute later, he came back and asked if it had been mixed up. Nope, it sure hadn't. That doesn't really happen by itself. He left again and I took the opportunity to make the mixture disappear. He was okay with that because it was time to go get Leif and Sabrina from the bus stop. The End.

Halloween
Anders the Bear
Sabrina the Fairy Princess

Leif as Robin Hood

This was the first easy Halloween for me! Anders wore a bear hat we bought in Yosemite this summer and some furry mittens that took me about 10 minutes to make, nice! Sabrina wore her dress-ups and her crown from last Halloween. Leif agreed to wear his costume from last year because we're in a new town and at new school and no one here saw his costume last year, easy! *whew*

Weekend Trip
Our weekend trip to visit Grandma and Grandpa H was fantastic, of course! On Saturday, the kids and I went to cousin Alli's school carnival while Jeff was at his training thing.
Alli - 7, Leif - 8, Sabrina - 6, Anders - 3

Jeff came back just in time for the "trampoline show" put on by all the cousins. Dinner was yummy steak followed by s'mores! Grandma made a super yum, yum brownie cake that was soooooo moist (I had to get the recipe!) Fun, Fun Times!
Leif and cousin Jared - 11

So Many, Many Blessings Today!!!
My little right-hand man needed a nap today, but I had to take him out with me in the afternoon to do Relief Society service. That didn't take as long as I thought it would, so I had a little bit of time to run my errand for tomorrow (yes!) before Leif and Sabrina were to be dropped off by the school bus.
I am sooooo thankful that:
1) Anders fell asleep during the short car ride to the store.
2) I happened to have a blanket in the car that I used as a cushion in the cart.
3) He stayed asleep while I moved him from the car to the cart.
4) He didn't wake up until we were done shopping and in the parking lot! Awesome!
It was so great to be able to go in, get what I needed, and be done! And now, I have one less thing to do tomorrow. Nice! :) So many, many blessings today!!! :)
Wednesday
Aloe Vera = Hair Gel
There are times when little children quietly occupy themselves. Sometimes they are looking at books, building with Legos, drawing pictures, etc. Other times, however, they sneak somewhere and do something mischievous. This afternoon, Anders was suspiciously quiet, perhaps hiding in my closet and falling asleep? Nope! He was busy coating his hair with Aloe Vera. Nice!
Monday
Flying Kites
Anders is Jeff's little shadow when he is home. Sabrina took these pictures. If you can't tell, Jeff and Anders are having some fun on a windy day with the kites.
